Lisa K Designs

Lisa and I used to work at a local art store together in Cincinnati. She's such an amazing artist... and now has started a line of jewelry! Her craftsmanship is fantastic and the designs are so inspired! Her work would make fantastic gifts for anybody, but especially the bridal party. Her work is so beautifully rustic that it would be the perfect accent for a bride to add that wanted splash of color, too!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Wouldn't that last pair of earrings be perfect for a winter wedding?!

Check out Lisa's work on her website, on ArtFire and on Etsy!

If you understand anything about the differences between typefaces, you will love the video clip!

Eric & Stephanie's Invitation Options

FINALLY I'm getting around to posting the design options for Eric and Stephanie's June wedding in Greensboro, NC! When Stephanie and I first talked about her invitations, she mentioned that she wanted to keep costs down by not having an RSVP card; rather, she just wanted to tell people to find any additional information on their wedding website. She also told me her colors were pink with yellow accents and she wanted it to look formal, classy and fresh.

Round 1:

In Option 1, I wanted to use full bleeds of her colors set the stage for the summer affair. The graphic at the top of the invitation was repeated on the back of the detail page to create a beautiful pattern to be used for other elements of her day.

Option 2, I wanted to be a little more bold with using all black typography on white paper and mounted to a pearlescent pink paper.

Option 3 uses a beautiful flourish to carry the colors of the day. The type is young, fresh, fun and accents the swirls and curlies in the graphic.

Steph and I sat and discussed the options. She didn't like the full color bleed on option 1; liked the idea of a simple B&W option like 2 (sans pink); but loved the flourish in option 3. She wanted all of the type to be a more formal script. Plus, she also mentioned that she started adding an orange into the mix of colors and would like to see all of the colors used in the invitations. She sent me her color swatches, and this is what she got.

Round 2:

After hearing how she wanted to type to be more scripted, I decided to change my type choice in a classic Caslon Swash instead of the Centaur Swash used in Round 1. Caslon offers a much softer edge where Centaur is a little more harsh and bold.

Move on over to see their save the dates! Can you guess which option they chose?

Hidden Faces

By now, I'm sure you've seen the AMEX: Don't Take Chances. Take Charge commercials:

I love those! Ever since I can remember I would always look for faces in tree bark, in clouds and even in the soap suds after washing my hands. This Entertainment Web posted a blog called 45 Hidden Faces in Things, and I love them so much I had to share a few.

Do you see faces in things? I would love to see some of yours, too.
